CONQUERING VÄLLISTE
Today, I went on my first run up a mountain! On my first day of vacation, I chose to run the Välliste loop. I hiked this same trail last summer, but the summit was covered in thick fog, so I couldn’t enjoy the view at the time. But today, I seized the opportunity and tackled the steepest part first, running the trail in reverse.
After an unpredictable weather forecast, the fog cleared, and the weather turned out to be absolutely amazing! Knowing that the weather would worsen in the afternoon, I got an early start (as I'm writing this, it's pouring rain).
After about 40 minutes, I reached the summit of Välliste at 1,025 meters above sea level, and the view was breathtaking! Among other things, I could see the Snasahögarna to the east. From there, it was mostly downhill all the way.
It didn’t take long before I descended into dense birch and spruce forests. After a steeper section with plenty of roots and a bit more technical running, I reached Ytterstvallen, where I stopped for a quick fika. Then it was time to sprint the final four kilometers through the forest back to Trillevallen. An absolutely fantastic day!
