GRÄNSÖ TRAIL RUN
Since some of my old friends no longer live in Stockholm, I thought it would be fun to run a race in Västervik, as we all come from there. Apparently, my friends thought it sounded like a great idea too, because in the end, all four of us signed up for the Gränsö Trail Run.
It was a perfect day. A bit chilly in the morning, but it warmed up quickly as the sun rose higher in the sky. The air was crisp, and I was feeling pumped. It was me, Marcus, David, and Petter taking part. I had signed up for the 15k.
The race started at Gränsö Castle, just outside of Västervik, and we began running southward, counterclockwise.
A little further south, we reached some rockier sections near the water. The trails were stunning, though there were plenty of stones along the way—just as a proper trail run should be. My body felt strong, with a solid flow in my legs.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t a top result this time. I think I may have underestimated the competition, as it seemed like half of Småland’s top orienteers were there, but I was still really happy with my performance considering my age..
Afterward, we headed to Marcus’s summer house, where we relaxed in the sauna and enjoyed a delicious elk stew that Marcus had cooked. What an amazing day it turned out to be! We definitely need to do this again!
