GRAVEL RIDE TO HÄGGSJÖN

With only a few days left in Åre, I decided to take another ride on my bike. The weather was absolutely magical, not a cloud in the sky and the wind pretty much non-existent. So I jumped on the bike in Tegefjäll and set off east towards Häggsjön.

Not far from the center of Duved, you can reach rolling landscapes and old fine houses above the Indalsälven, in what is called Duvedsbyn. After that it was time to cross the E14 and cycle north.

I was met by nice winding roads with hard packed gravel that rolled really well. Nice views on my left and Mullfjället on the right. A little later I arrived at the Nordhallen, which was incredibly beautiful. Here, the houses were high above the mirror-like Öster-Noren lake, and in the background you could make out the Snasahögarna and Sylarna. Breathtaking views!

After a few more miles, I came to a river that connects Öster-Noren with Väster-Noren. Then it wasn’t far to Häggsjön, where I stopped and ate my lunch sandwiches. It was really warm, so I couldn’t resist taking a swim. Incredibly refreshing.

After lunch, I continued on a closed road, and here a steep ascent began. The road was also in slightly worse condition with coarser gravel, so it became a bit tougher here, but it was fine. A little further ahead, I saw a reindeer grazing by the side of the road.

A few miles later, I came out onto road 322, which took me back to Tegefjäll. Here the wheels rolled faster on the tarmac, but there also was a bit more traffic of course. In the end, I got togehter 64 km and 854 meters of elevation. What a fantastic day!
