SOLO SAILING TO BISKOPSÖN

It was the first weekend in May, and I had an overwhelming craving to get out on the water and sail. When I asked around, none of my friends were able to join, so I decided to go solo. The day was absolutely perfect, with a gentle northerly breeze—ideal for some peaceful solo sailing!

I initially set my sights on the outer skerries of Biskopsön, but due to low tide, it was a bit too shallow for my favorite spot. So, I played it safe and docked in Koxviken instead. Although I've been there countless times, that bay is always a reliable and easy place to anchor. I practically know every rock in those waters.

The sail there was lovely, with light winds carrying me along. Once I arrived, I was surprised to find myself completely alone! Granted, it was only May 6th, but I had expected at least a few boats. It felt a bit strange to have the entire place to myself, choosing and navigating among the rocks in Koxviken. In July, there can be up to 50 boats here, and during the Gullviverally, over a hundred!

In the evening, I kept things simple with some tapas and a movie on my tablet. I do miss having a heater on board, so it was a bit chilly during the night, to say the least. But with multiple layers of base layers and a cozy sleeping bag, I managed just fine.

The next day, I made a quick detour to Norsten before heading back home. There's something special about being out in the archipelago this early in the spring— I absolutely love it.
