SKI TOURING BY HEADLAMP

As Christmas was coming to an end, and after a whole day on the slopes, I still felt like something was missing. So, with the sun setting over the valley and the lifts closing for the day, I decided to put on my skins for one final run in Tegefjäll.

There’s something truly special about skiing with a headlamp. The trees and landscape take on a new life, and the slopes you’ve skied countless times feel almost unfamiliar. I had recently bought a new headlamp, a Lumonite Compass, that I was eager to try, and this seemed like the perfect moment to give it a go. I began my ascent from Gunnilbacken, heading up into the evening.

After passing Tegebacken, I finally reached the lift station at the top after a little over half an hour. By this time, the station was completely deserted, and it was time to remove my skins and make the descent.

It had snowed lightly throughout the day, so I decided to take a few turns in the fresh snow in the forest. I cranked up the brightness on my headlamp to the max and weaved my way between the trees. It was such a blast!

It turned into a delightful little mini-adventure, one I’ll definitely be doing again!
