HIKING GROFJÄLLET

Today, we decided to hike the Grofjällsrundan (trail 223). The journey begins in Edsåsdalen, taking you first through dense spruce forests that gradually transition into birch woodlands, before reaching the open mountain plateau. It was a cloudy day, perfect for a mountain hike!

After a couple of kilometers, however, we missed the turnoff and found ourselves heading toward the summit of Välliste once again. So, we cut across a bog and took a winter trail toward Grofjället— a path that turned out to be quite soggy!

The boots held up well once again today, and we found ourselves on an exciting path through large stretches of snow. Halfway across the bog, we took a break for a snack, enjoyed our lunch sandwiches, and soaked in the view.

Finally, we reached the summit of Grofjället, at 952 meters above sea level, and from there, the descent was easy. Along the way, we passed an old mountain chalet in Sönnestvallen, and the final stretch led us along a beautiful stream.
