SUN ABOVE OTTFJÄLLET
Today marked our final day of hiking for this trip. After checking the weather forecast, which promised a bit of sunshine, we saved the best mountain for last. Ottfjället truly is a highlight!
Starting in Vålådalen (trail 285), we began our ascent. The path began as a rocky trail through the forest before opening up to the vast mountain landscape, leading us over a powerful waterfall.
It was wonderful to finally have some sunshine, and as we rounded Pucklarna, we took a well-deserved break with a magnificent view of Lunndörren and beyond. Along the way, we also spotted a couple of ptarmigans.
Then, it was uphill once more, and the closer we got to the summit, the steeper it became. The final stretch is marked as a black trail, and it certainly made itself known in our legs. But when we finally reached the top, the effort was more than worth it, as we were rewarded with a breathtaking view over Ottsjön.
It was quite windy at the top, so we added a few extra layers, enjoyed our sandwiches, and gazed out over Ottsjön. Then, it was time to head back down. Since we had taken a small detour on the way up, we were able to follow some new trails on the way back. There were plenty of boardwalks along the way.
The final stretch down was easy, but after three days of hiking, my legs were definitely feeling it. What an amazing weekend it turned out to be!
