SAILING TO VÄSTERVIK
Finally, the long-awaited vacation was here! David, Petter, and I had three days to sail from Stockholm to Västervik. Later, once we arrived, I would return with David and the kids to sail back along the same route, offering a chance to enjoy the journey from both directions.
We set off from Ingarö in the morning. At first, the wind was barely a whisper, but as the day went on, it picked up. However, once we rounded Landsort, dark clouds began to gather in the north.
It wasn’t long before the wind picked up to a gale and the rain came pouring down. However, the storm cleared as quickly as it arrived, and a few hours later, we reached Hävringe, with the sun making a welcome appearance. We were lucky—the harbor was technically full, but we were able to borrow a spot from some residents of the island. What a beautiful place!
The next day, the weather was perfect again, and we sailed past Häradskär, anchoring just north of Väderskär. Along the way, we spotted an incredible number of swans—it must have been their annual gathering or something. I’ve never seen so many at once! The picture below shows only a fraction of them.
On our final day, we had just a few hours left to sail south before reaching Västervik's harbor.
