VÄSTERVIK-STOCKHOLM BY SAIL
The second part of the vacation started off great. A few days earlier, David, Petter, and I had sailed the boat down to Västervik, and now it was time for David and me to head north again with the girls.
We set sail in the morning and enjoyed a lovely sail to a small island called Sloholmen, located east of Fångö. Right next to where we anchored, there was a perfect rock to jump from, so we spent the afternoon swimming and having fun when we arrived.
Even during the sail down to Västervik, I had noticed that the battery seemed to be running low, and by the first evening, when we turned on the lights aboard, everything suddenly went dark. The regulator had cut the power due to low voltage. The following day, we sailed into Arkösund to try and find a charger. Unfortunately, it was harder than we expected, and we ended up staying there for two nights. Eventually, we bought a brand-new battery. The weather wasn’t great either, with rain pouring down, but we made the best of it, enjoying the sauna and dining at a restaurant. So, we were far from suffering.
The following day brought better weather, and with a newly installed battery, we sailed across Bråviken and up to Stendörren, where we discovered a beautiful nature harbor. There, we grilled entrecote and marshmallows. Afterward, we sailed on to Utö, where we spent the night in the guest harbor before heading to Huvudskär the next morning. The weather had turned perfect again!
At Huvudskär, we met up with some friends and enjoyed a magical evening on the rocks. The following day, it was time to head home, and we had a lovely sail up to Ingarö. Despite the battery mishap, it turned out to be an unforgettable vacation.
